Nasal Strips vs. Internal Nasal Dilators: Which Works Better?

When addressing snoring or nasal obstruction, two options dominate: external nasal strips and internal nasal dilators like Nas-air®. Nasal strips, such as Breathe Right®, work by externally lifting the nostrils, improving airflow without medication. They're convenient for temporary relief during sleep, exercise, or cold symptoms.

Internal nasal dilators, however, insert into the nostrils to physically prop open the nasal passages. A 2019 study compared 41 snorers using either device and found both reduced snoring duration. Notably, Nas-air® outperformed nasal strips in sleep quality improvement, likely due to more direct airway support.

Choosing between them depends on preference and severity. Nasal strips are non-invasive and drug-free, ideal for mild cases. Internal dilators suit those needing stronger support but may cause discomfort. Always prioritize addressing root causes—like allergies or sleep apnea—with a healthcare professional.
